"Un-filtered" on IGTV:
Instagram had an initiative to fight against cyberbullying and funded and became a platform to present a new series directed by Jonah Hill, where teenagers were talking about their personal experiences with both, online and offline bullying. In the IGTV format on the official Instagram page you can find the 1st season, which includes 4 episodes.
“I tried to create an environment for young people to be heard and listened to. I wish there was a platform to hear other’s struggles and experiences when I was growing up. I hope that this will be inspiring for young people to share their stories and feelings and not feel so alone.”
Hill was showing people with different reasons for bullying, like body image, disability, race, and sexuality. As victims are scared to talk about their pain, this experiment could possibly cheer them up and help to speak out loud.
“At Instagram, we’re committed to elevating the voices of the next generation and that means providing a safe place where they feel comfortable to express themselves.”- said Janine Gianfredi, Instagram’s director of consumer marketing."
HotList:
Scams prey on internet users’ sympathy, fear or greed. Phishing scams became popular a long time ago. However, the new type has appear quite recently and is called "HotList".
Its main goal is to lead users to a fake Instagram login page and get their login credentials.
The anonymous account sends a link, which in case of opening, will send you to the "log-in" page, but in reality it is nothing, but fake.
Once a user falls for this, the hackers will use their account to send further scam messages to other users (both the victim’s followers and other Instagram users).
For now, Instagram suggests not to open Direct Messages with provocative information from anonymous users, or not to provide personal login details to pages that do not belong to the Instagram.com official webpage.
